The early focus of my sports career was coaching; in my freshman year I was an assistant coach to the freshman boys' basketball team, as well as a management intern and assistant coach at a start-up basketball training company. I enjoyed the success and defeat that comes with a coaching career, and I can proudly say that I am a 3-time tournament winning coach. But, I knew a career in coaching would not effectively bridge my passion for sports and writing. I chose instead to expand my knowledge of the sports industry by building an eclectic repertoire of experience. In my 3 years here at SMU, I invested heavily in my community, being elected as Director of Integrity for Boaz Commons during my freshman year and subsequently elected as a Resident Assistant at the end of that same year. While in these roles, I was hired as a student center employee, as well as chosen for a Website Management internship with NFL Alumni Media. Now entering my senior year, I am a Communications & Marketing intern for Texas Biomedical Research Institute and interning with Peak Sports MGMT in Corporate Partnerships at the University of the Incarnate Word. I am looking to gain further experience in Public Relations and Sport Management through more internship opportunities where I can use my growing communication and leadership skills to enhance sports and health initiatives.
