I managed intellectual property (IP) with an emphasis on software for Argonne National Laboratory by: • Aligning internal R&D capabilities with new business opportunities, • Guiding intellectual property through the patent and copyright process, • Developing intellectual property deployment strategies, • Performing market research, and • Formulating effective licensing / commercialization strategies In support of these commercialization efforts, I negotiated, reviewed, and administered licenses, CRADAs, WFOs, and other technology transfer contractual mechanisms with federal, state, and local governments, universities, and industry. I managed Argonne National Laboratory's Software Shop, through which a spectrum of Laboratory-developed software packages are available for commercial licensing, download, and open-source collaborative development.

Idaho Falls, Idaho

As a Commercialization Manager (CM) in the Technology Deployment office at Idaho National Laboratory (INL), I managed the Nuclear Science & Technology portfolio of intellectual property with a focus on software and copyrights. I worked extensively with the Deputy Director developing a Laboratory-Wide Procedure (LWP) for management and deployment of Open Source Software (OSS). In the course of my service at INL, I: • Managed the Nuclear Science & Technology portfolio of intellectual property including patents and copyrights. • Executed >20 license agreements in the first 6 months, for >$500k in royalties. • Negotiated and drafted sponsored research agreements valued at >$2 million in NPV within the first 6 months.

Los Alamos, New Mexico

As a Business Development / Licensing Associate in the Technology Transfer Division Office at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), I promoted Laboratory objectives by building and maintaining strong commercial partnerships with U.S. and global industries. I worked extensively with LANL’s software management team, in which I was a manager of multiple technologies with an emphasis on multi-physics codes.In the course of my service at LANL, I developed a triage process for management of Intellectual Property (IP) assigned to the Laboratory, which introduced an automated docket management "dashboard" used by my colleagues. I also deployed a commercialization strategy for a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) suite of codes called “KIVA" that included a successful web-enabled download approach. In addition to numerous downloads of KIVA, I negotiated and executed 100+ licenses and sponsored research agreements (CRADAs, WFOs, etc.), many of which required the drafting of non-standard language. My commercialization efforts brought enduring benefits to Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Oak Ridge, Tennessee

As a Commercialization Analyst, I conducted extensive market opportunity analyses to determine commercialization / licensing options for some of the breakthrough technologies (e.g. carbon fiber composites, superconducting and super-hydrophobic materials) developed by the labs' 1,500+ scientists. In addition, I authored detailed recommendation reports, outlining inventions and their viable commercial opportunities. I supported ORNL's commercialization activities by developing marketing materials for the available technologies. By organizing IP portfolios and developing mechanisms for categorizing and analyzing their various elements, I strengthened the Laboratory's intellectual property position for a number of unique ORNL capabilities.

As a logistics / supply chain supervisor, I: • Oversaw terminal operations in Laredo, Texas; Del Rio, Texas; and Flint, Michigan,• Negotiated, drafted, and executed logistics service agreements to operate as intended in all applicable jurisdictions,• Developed a predictive computer model to optimize preventative maintenance schedules for approximately 60 company tractors,• And provided directions in Spanish for the Spanish-speaking drivers.
