In my role as Team Lead and Senior Data Privacy Counsel, I led a team of 4 privacy professionals, including two other attorneys, for an international multi-billion dollar ed-tech business and publisher (Pearson Education) undergoing a digital transformation and business model transition from B2B to D2C. At the conclusion of 2022 Pearson elected to end their engagement with Morae, but negotiated with Morae in order to be permitted to tender an offer to retain my services despite an active noncompete in place.

In my role as an in-house counsel I routinely worked closely with the firm’s executives in an advisory capacity on a wide variety of matters. In addition, I provided day to day legal support, managed the privacy program, and was tasked with creating, revising, and drafting numerous firm policies and standards related to data privacy and security, as well as, procurement. I also supported various departments negotiating, drafting, or reviewing all contracts entered on behalf of the firm. I was instrumental in the firm successfully earning the coveted ISO 27001 Certification for information security management by drafting a DPA that met the certification’s rigorous standards, in addition to working with the Chief of Security to revise and ensure compliance with existing security standards. Conceptualized, structured, and drafted the majority of the firm’s privacy and procurement related policies, in addition to revising existing ones. Developed privacy training materials, conducted division-wide training sessions and managed the firm’s privacy program.Revised many of the firm’s existing standard agreements, improving them to reflect expectations and quality synonymous with Am Law 50 firms.Negotiated, drafted, and reviewed a wide variety of commercial agreements Served as project lead to overhaul the firm’s contract management system. Diligently oversaw and managed the project team through all stages of the project from conceptualization and “data clean-up” to implementation and “go-live” of the new enterprise solution – successfully executing all objectives.
