I work in a clinical laboratory specializing in Immunology and Molecular Biology. I am responsible for a number of different tests in several areas. I perform immune status testing for IgG for Measles, Mumps, and VZV as well as disease state serology (IgG and IgM) for EBV and CMV. This testing utilizes the MAGO 4s automated ELISA analyzers. I also test for various auto-immune antibodies such as anti-SSA, SSB, Sm, RNP, Scl-70, Jo-1 utilizing these analyzers. I also have experience with the DSX ELISA analyzer by Dynex technologies. I am responsible for Treponema Pallidum Total Ab EIA screen and Quantiferon TB Gold-Plus testing utilizing the DSX instrument. In addition to automated immunology, I perform manual serology testing for Mycoplasma IgM and C6 Lyme via ELISA, Thyroid Ab via hemeagglutination, cryptococcal Ag via lateral flow, and RPR and VDRL for syphilis. In Molecular Biology, I utilize the Hologic Panther system to perform molecular testing to detect Chlamydia, GC, Trichomonas, HPV, HPV genotyping. I also do a laboratory developed test for Mycoplasma genitalium with the Panther. Additional responsibilities in Molecular biology include utilizing the Becton-Dickinson BD Max analyzer to test for MRSA, Enteric Pathogens, C. diff, Group-B streptococcus, and MRSA/MSSA for blood culture ID. I do have a significant amount of experience with assay implementation and validation. Assay automation is a strong suit of mine and I have significant experience with ELISA automation by programing and adjusting new assay file parameters on various instruments to automate testing. I am interested in implementing methods for emerging disease and disorders in which no test methods has yet been established. I have interest in finding new ways to prove the necessity of implementing a new test, whether it be through epidemiology research, or otherwise. I am a strong believer in community outreach to determine the need for test additions.
