Foreign Oral English Teacher
• Developed curriculum for and instructed 50+ total students in Beginner's, Intermediate, and Advanced Oral English classes, and taught an English-speaking culture class at Guangzhou English Training Center for the Handicapped (GETCH), for 18-25 year old students. • Designed, facilitated, and implemented, field trips for a group of 20+ senior level students, to Guangdong Museum, Lucy's Cafe, a "Soft-Spoken English Scavenger Hunt".• Collaborated with and attended meetings with 10 teachers to design, plan, and implement 300+ attendee Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas parties.• Promoted and recruited local Guangzhou citizens to volunteer at GETCH, at GETCH's Charity Festival Event, and GETCH's Walk, Run, and Roll event. Raised over $2,000 USD in rehabilitation funds.• Designed 3-6 minute iMovie videos, and once weekly Microsoft PowerPoint class presentations, utilizing videos, pictures, and music created in Santa Barbara, Denmark, Irvine, Thailand, and China.• Connected, introduced, and mediated communication between United Family Healthcare (UFH) and GETCH, to discuss free dental healthcare and vocational opportunities for GETCH students.• Arranged for, corresponded with, and directed 5 University of Iowa teachers to teach music, dance, and poetry workshops at GETCH.• Addressed and led tours of GETCH and Guangzhou to groups of 5+ GETCH volunteers.• Assisted the Academic Coordinator in summarizing data and listing areas for improvement for the U.S. Consulate General on GETCH's English Access Microscholarship program.• Recorded students' grades on Microsoft Excel, for their once monthly written reading reports, 1-on-1, and group presentation oral English and culture exams.• Used my persuasion, speaking, and empathy skills to help students improve their pronunciation and written English skills.• Edited, proofread, and proposed new material for weekly written blog updates to GETCH Foundation's website.
