Dr. Andreas A. Vasilakis was born in Corfu, Greece in 1983. He received his PhD degree in 2014 in the field of Computer Graphics from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering of the University of Ioannina, Greece. He has also received BSc (with the highest graduate grade in his class) and MSc degrees from the same institution in 2006 and 2008, respectively. He had a successful collaboration with the Graphics Group at the Department of Informatics in Athens University of Economics and Business as well as the Virtual and Augmented Reality research units at the Information Technologies Institute of the Centre of Research and Technology Hellas as a postdoctoral researcher, where he successfully assisted in the coordination of one national and two European research projects. He has also served as a senior software engineer in Think Silicon S.A., mainly responsible for the software design and development of graphics drivers and development kits for low-power graphics solutions funded from 2 EU-research projects. In the past, he has also served as a visiting student researcher in the Department of Computer Science of University of Cyprus through the LLP/ERASMUS practical training program on applied research in Computer Graphics. His research work has also been funded by (i) a Heraclitus II doctorate scholarship through the operational programme “Education and Lifelong Learning” as well as (ii) a NSRF grant through the operational programme “Supporting researchers with emphasis on young researchers - Cycle B.His work, more than 22 scientific articles, has been published in high-ranking journals (IEEE TVCG, CGF, etc.) and leading international conferences (SIGGRAPH, EG, I3D, etc.) with peer review offering strong technical contribution to the field of photorealistic rendering, processing and visualization of large, animated and complex 3D data (~315 citations, h-index=11). He has also served as reviewer in several international journals and conferences.Dr. Vasilakis is currently a postdoctoral fellow in Athens University of Economics and Business as well as adjunct lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Ioannina University. His research interests include interactive graphics, geometry processing techniques and rendering algorithms. He is a member of the Eurographics Association, ACM Greek SIGCHI, and Hellenic Informatics Union.Recently, he cofounded Phasmatic, a company which pushes the boundaries of photorealistic 3D graphics on the web.Personal website: https://abasilak.github.io
