Abbey joined the team in August of 2010. She previously taught high school English for two years in Ames, IA, and managed a real estate office for three years in Naperville, IL. Her primary responsibilities focus on the management of client relationships and services. She also manages the team's policies and procedures and marketing/client events. Her unique abilities include organizing all of our client information, managing processes, and deepening the relationships our team has with our clients and joint work members.Less than a month after joining Northwestern Mutual, Abbey received her life and health license. She eagerly attends as many continuing education opportunities as her busy schedule allows. Abbey spoke about using a planning tool at the 2011 Northwestern Mutual Annual Meeting in Milwaukee, WI, and has worked directly with the home office on technology improvements through her committee work.Abbey lives in Iowa with her husband and children. They enjoy riding bikes, traveling with their families and friends, and finding new parks to explore. Abbey also enjoys playing the piano and used to teach piano lessons.

Abbey provided in-home piano lessons to children ages 5-18. She worked with all ranges of knowledge, experience, and desire. Her lessons were 30 minutes (either individual or partner), and she used a combination of Robert Pace, Faber & Faber, and her own activities when creating lesson plans. Every student composed at least one original piece each year, and all students celebrated their talents with a winter and spring recital.

Abbey worked directly with the owner/managing broker to promote the company and increase the productivity of its agents. She assisted the owner/president and managing broker with internal and external correspondence, task management, staff meetings, and other clerical needs. She prepared marketing, including the weekly "Chicago Tribune" ad, property brochures, and the weekly office newsletter. Abbey also produced the training materials and facilitated new hire training.

West Des Moines, Ia

Abbey worked directly with the president to prioritize daily agenda, produced orientation manuals for new hire training, and produced manuals for quarterly board meetings. She also assisted the event coordinators with correspondence, registration, and reporting for national and international meetings.

Ames, Ia

Abbey prepared, instructed, and assessed meaningful lessons to over 160 high school students each semester. She also participated in school-improvement committees, including the Program-Based Budget Committee and the High School Reform Committee. Abbey received the Iowa Council of Teachers of English Promising Young Teacher Award and was recognized in "Who's Who Among America's Teachers"
