Working for Rickard Luckin Limited has hugely impacted my skills as a secretary. My daily duties include answering the phone and managing calls using Horizon switchboard software, meeting and greeting clients, managing the stock for the stationery cupboard and diary management for our meeting room. Since being with RL, I have been performing ad-hoc duties for our Audit & Accounts and Tax Team using Wolters Kluwer CCH Central system. No day is ever the same and I am excited to continue learning and excelling within the firm.

My duties as the Office Administrator/Assistant vary from day-to-day. Lunch time cover for the reception desk is a regular task, whilst working closely with the facilities manager; often helping with things like ordering stationary from online tools such as OfficeTeam's SmartPad, liaising with building management for events such as fire drills, health and safety checks and regular inspections, and monitoring the toner and ink cartridges for the printers and franking machine. Through Bryden Wood, I have trained to be a Fire Marshal and gained an Emergency First Aid at work qualification through St John's Ambulance. My ad-hoc duties include minute taking in management and director meetings, handling invoices and expense claims and booking travel for colleagues and clients using online tools such as Amadeus. During my time at Bryden Wood, I helped create and manage the ‘Green Team’ to raise awareness of ISO standards, leading the company to be more environmentally friendly.

Located in the heart of Leigh-on-Sea, voted the happiest place to live in Britain, my day-to-day roles included training and supervising staff, dealing with customer enquiries politely and sensibly ensuring the right actions are taken when necessary and handling the daily takings and monies, all whilst ensuring compliance with licensing, hygiene and healthy & safety regulations. The employer would agree that I have the ability to lead a team to success in a pressurised environment and find it easy to stay organised and have control of any situation. Being a keyholder to the building, I was considered a very trustworthy member of the team.

Working for Thomas Cook Retail gained me experience in target based sales, whilst building a rapport and personal relationships with new and repeat customers. Administration was a huge part of the day-to-day duties in the office; managing statistical and financial records in date order and filing relevant papers, whilst ensuring compliance with data protection. Working towards a NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Travel and Tourism, I was assigned tasks to meet deadlines, such as report writing on destinations using vital IT software like Microsoft Office.
