On top of normal secretarial duties for the group, I was also involved in the organisation and running of events, and was the committee's 'techie guy', helping to expand the group's online presence and coordinate experiments with online video.

Software developer for a small software startup during the 6 month sandwich break in my university course. I worked on a variety of web and offline systems to enhance user selection of products including poetry, films, wine and gifts. Worked on the Co-Op's Grape and Grain wine website, mytaxi.co.uk and razorcuts.com as well as internal applications to support those sites. I also worked on the development and prototyping of an intelligent program selecting EPG system for digital television and an automated text classification system.

Part-time sysadmin and programmer for departmental applications in the Comptroller and City Solicitor's department. Worked on a variety of inhouse applications for time-keeping, inventorying and document management. Prototyped a system for automated transcription using speech recognition. Did PC support for the department including management of departmental servers and website.
