I am a recent graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology from Florida Southern College. I am currently the Lower Keys Education Programs Coordinator at Mote Marine Laboratory in Summerland Key, Florida. Here, my role is dedicated to creating educational materials focused on the importance of coral reef ecosystems and Mote's coral reef restoration efforts for students from all over the country.Beyond my role in marine science education, I also have contributed to scientific research which began in my undergraduate career and continues today. My research background includes studying the impacts of environmental stressors on the Florida stone crab fishery. In addition to conducting research, I have always had a passion for communicating my research interests through marine science education. Therefore, in recent years I have worked to develop educational lessons that mimic my research experiments in a classroom setting. These curricula allow students to investigate my research questions and discover scientific findings in a similar way to my own experiments. As a marine science educator with research experience, I am working in an effort to bridge the gap between marine biology topics and community understanding through science education and communication.
