As a Client Success Specialist at the Business Career Center, I've had the opportunity to work with the diverse business students on campus and help connect them with their dream companies. I have personally worked with Women in Business, the Association for Latino Professionals of America, and the Marriott Inclusion in Business clubs to help them plan and host events, connect with recruiters and companies, advertise to students, and ultimately help students get hired. My time as an Office Assistant for Greystone Homes taught me a great deal about diversifying my skills. I was hired because management liked me as a person, however they did not have a defined role for me when I was hired. Throughout the year, my job was to find where I was needed and teach myself how to fix the problems I saw. During this process I created their logos and print advertising, managed some of their real estate properties, assisted customers in the home design process, and was responsible for insurance based risk mitigation. This experience taught me how to have concentrated initiative and how to analyze and solve problems. I learned how important it was to value individual team members and have a basic understanding of all facets of the business. Because I was involved in so many projects, I was able to connect employees with each other and provide relevant information. Being an office assistant taught me about project management and customer recovery through first hand experience.
