About Abigail (Abby) Taylor
As a recent graduate from Purdue University, I am confident that my academic achievements, research experience, and personal aspirations position me as an outstanding candidate for a diverse array of roles. My dual major in Law and Society and Brain and Behavioral Sciences, supplemented with my minors in Forensic Science and Anthropology, reflect my interdisciplinary mindset and versatility in tackling complex challenges. With a steadfast commitment to advancing knowledge that serves the greater good, I derive immense satisfaction from applying my analytical and critical thinking skills to address real-world problems. As part of my research endeavors, I am currently collaborating with Dr. Buzon, Emily Eiseman, and Heidi (Joe) Althaus on an ambitious project that seeks to estimate pubertal timing in Ancient Egyptian and Nubian populations during the New Kingdom and 3rd Intermediate periods. Leveraging the Falys and Lewis (2020; 2013; 2014) puberty recording form and utilizing specific skeletal features, we aim to derive novel insights into pubertal analysis and methodology of ancient skeletal remains.Furthermore, I am engaged in a two-phase study led by Dr. Headworth that involves recruiting and interviewing individuals who have suffered from vehicle repossession. This research investigates the impact of vehicle loss in a car-centric society and how it engenders social isolation. By analyzing qualitative statistics derived from semi-structured interviews, we have discerned patterns that demonstrate how vehicle repossession and loss disproportionately impact marginalized communities, perpetuating social exclusion and disconnection. Our research sheds valuable light on what repossession means for social conditions and economic opportunity. In addition to my research experience, I am proud to have been on the Dean's List and received Semester Honors from August 2019 to Spring 2023. These achievements demonstrate my commitment to excellence in my studies. Overall, my combination of academic achievement, research experience, and dedication to understanding real-world issues make me an excellent candidate for a variety of positions.
