I have a deep passion for intense research in the field of next-generation networks and communications. Along with it, I love to share what I have learned and pass it on to students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels so that they too can evolve into the pioneers of tomorrow. To supplement my teaching style throughout different universities and institutions, I have held several positions in the power distribution and telecommunications industry to ensure that I am well-rounded in my teaching approach and can bridge the gap between theory and application.

Research Experience--> Fiber Optics and Lasers Designed and characterized a novel dual-purpose Sagnac loop mirror to serve as a variable optical coupler/attenuator via exclusively passive optical components for C-band transmission. Proposed a novel THz generation technique (0.8 to 2.51 THz) via a self-designed tunable dual-wavelength C-band semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA)-based compound-ring fiber laser used to excite an Indium Phosphide substrate. Designed a passive beam combiner via a compound ring high-powered SOA-based tunable fiber laser via low-powered optical components achieving up to 98% coherent beam combining efficiency over the C-band up to a 30 nm range.-->Passive Optical Networks Proposed an upstream distributed dynamic bandwidth allocation scheme for Fiber-Wireless networks that shifts centralized control plane (optical) tasks to the access-end and reduce upstream data plane (wireless) latency. Leveraged above proposed scheme to enhance downstream performance in TDM-PON-based access networks.

Research Experience:--> Core Networks Proposed three novel configurations for AI-Native to enhance slicing isolation and planar separation of core networks and minimize their control plane latency. Crafted a novel distributed and collaborative learning architecture for core network functions and NWDAF to utilize federated and split learning for upcoming 3GPP standards.-->Radio Access Networks Integrated LTE and mmWave bands with 3GPP New Radio (NR) numerology for TDD RAN network slicing, enhanced network spectral efficiency and reduced user transmission power. Designed a priority-based network slicing scheme for 5G and non-5G traffic utilizing multiple resource schedulers simultaneously.-->Drone/Aerial Networks Demonstrated the advantages of dual-band transmissions, numerology, and band admission policies in drone networks over current networks for best-effort and guaranteed services. Proposed novel numerology scheme assignment strategy for Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices to conduct spectrally efficient drone-edge computing to minimize energy consumption and latency.-->End-to-End Networks Implemented end-to-end network slicing for novel core network configurations enhancing slice isolation, planar separation, and minimizing end-to-end latency. Proposed hierarchical AI for 6G HetNets utilizing federated, split, and deep learning across network layers and access nodes.-->Research Funding/Proposals Managed two research project proposals across two research labs and was successfully funded for a joint research venture with Futurewei Technologies, leading to a subsequent proposal request. Funded by, produced deliverables and project reports for NSF Grant CNS-1814748 NeTS: Small: Free Space Optics as Backhaul and Energizer for Drone-assisted Networking. Crafted numerous technical presentations for both domestic and international conferences.
