It is the world's largest community based medical research project. They are looking to understand why the prevalence of diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, and stroke is so high in the South Asian community. In particular, the Pakistani and Bangladeshi communities. The goal is to use our findings to produce better targeted, and thus, more effective treatment and education amongst members of these communities in the UK, and abroad. As a delegated researcher, I acted as an ambassador for the organisation. I attended venues, engaged with members of the community, informed them of our work and collected their DNA.
