As a Special Electronics Device Repairer I perform and supervise field and sustainment level maintenance and repair on microcomputers and electromechanical telecommunications equipment, Field Artillery (FA) digital devices, Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers, switchboards, telephones, associated wire instruments/equipment, night vision devices/equipment, laser and fiber optic systems, mine detection and dispensing systems, battlefield illumination devices, electronic azimuth determining devices, and nuclear, biological, and chemical (NBC) warning and measuring devices. Alongside being a technician, I’m also my departments production manager, in charge of shop operations, interface with customers to facilitate maintenance requests, track maintenance orders, order parts and manage departments maintenance plan using a SAP ERP system, at times I’ve been asked to stand in as departments personnel manager which requires me to conduct periodic performance reviews of co workers, attend weekly maintenance and training meetings to provide senior leadership with a clear picture of my departments training schedule and current items in our shop for repair/service as well as provide a “way ahead” for any friction points
