Whilst pursuing jobs in my field, I am working full-time to support myself at Copthorne Prep. and I am looking forward to starting a community garden with the children to teach them about the natural world around them, as well as being a part of the staff team that is working on forest school.

Having started to cover a member of staff, I was asked to stay in a different capacity until the end of the Spring Term in March. This role put my skills to use in ways I did not expect, having worked through all ages of the school, I have had to be able to communicate with all ages of children and staff. Working in the office has also increased my admin skills.

Working as an Intern for the trust in order to complete my masters thesis allowed me to work with an international NGO, as well as collaborate with other large organisation working towards similar goals, such as UNDP and National Geographic. My field work involved short semi-structured interviews in order to gain an insight into the lives of snow leopards in the remote mountains of Kyrgyzstan. Using the information provided by local herders combined with computer modelling using presence data, I was able to produce maps showing the likelihood of snow leopard inhabitance. This data will be used in the full surveying of the entire West Tian Shan mountains, to provide accurate data on the number of snow leopards remaining in Kyrgyzstan.

Representing my course at prospectus events, my role was to explain to potential students what my course was all about, to answer questions and to provide first class tours of the university campus to both students and their parents. This required a level of awareness to reassure parents but also encourage students to be inquisitive and encourage their interest in the university and the course.

As a writer for the online zine Girls in Laboratories, I was given free reign to write about issues that were important to me as a woman in STEMM. Editions were produced monthly, and featured articles include an insight to my research trip in Kyrgyzstan, a profile on Primatologist Jane Goodall, as well as an in-depth expose into the life and challenges of being a woman in research.

Gained valuable customer service experience and how to handle time pressure when working in the restaurant and coffee shops for Sodexo. Having worked for Sodexo every summer and Christmas for 4 years I became part of the floating team and made great work relationships.

Planning and management of events and members as well as teaching beginners new techniques.

I managed the bar on my own, serving drinks to customers, as well as serving food occasionally, and handling money and keys during lock up. It was a fun and sociable environment in which I got to know regular customers well, and enjoyed the variety of work in my role.
