I have a couple degrees in Mechanical Engineering, but found myself gravitating more towards the math and analysis side of things rather than the design side of things. I worked at a biotech company for a couple years doing a lot of data focused projects and decided that I wanted to take my career more in that direction. I recently graduated from the Flatiron School with a certificate in Data Science to pivot my career towards Machine Learning.

Senior Solutions Engineer, Data AnalystMytide Therapeutics Aug 2020 - Jun 2023Boston, Massachusetts, United States- Managing data analysis pipeline for several data streams, primarily Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometer (LCMS) and image data.- Developing a computer vision program to automatically locate 96 data matrices in a single image, read, and validate each one.- Heading new analysis feature development, including automatic purity analysis, UV signal processing, MS calibration, and MS filtering.- Developing the programs to automatically generate peptide purity and side product reports to present to clients and investors. - Eliminated 10 hours of processing per week through automation of analyses and report preparation previously done by hand.- Developing the front end display and interface for data analysis results, enabling quick interpretation of the data by chemists in real time.- Constructed a flagging system to alert when specific conditions appear in LCMS and synthesis data, enabling faster interpretation of results. -
Engineering InternMytide Therapeutics Mar 2020 - Aug 2020Boston, Massachusetts, United States- Developed a computer vision system to facilitate automated inspection on a robotic peptide manufacturing platform. - Detects known fault conditions to prevent crashes and reduce downtime. - Collects visual data on each peptide as it is manufactured and reads data matrix labels on the vials. - Project completed in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Engineering in Advanced Manufacturing and Design. -
Volunteer EngineerChoice Humanitarian Aug 2018 - Dec 2019Greater Salt Lake City AreaServing as a volunteer engineer to conduct research for clean energy production at a vocational technical and training school in the village of Sikaabe in Guatemala. Spent the month of October, 2018 on site at the school to research feasibility of hydropower and solar power energy production. Project includes determining power generation capability, performing a load analysis of the school campus, communicating with local power companies and suppliers, and working side by side with local students to come up with a solution. Currently working on a design combining hydro and solar power to meet the needs of the campus. Goal for installation on site is December 2020. -
Process EngineerWheeler Machinery Co. Oct 2018 - Aug 2019Salt Lake City, UtahWorked on various process engineering projects to document and optimize engine rebuild processes in the Component Rebuild Center, primarily the Caterpillar G3500 and G3600 Engine Series. Worked with the engine technicians to develop an organization system and put together an Engine Rebuild SOP to act as a template for additional rebuild processes in the shop. Worked as a process consultant for the company-wide Throughput Improvement project, which involved interviewing key parties involved in opening and closing work orders to determine the current state of the process, identifying inefficiencies, and developing a new streamlined system for processing work orders and completing jobs quicker. -
Los Alamos Dynamics Summer School StudentLos Alamos National Laboratory Jun 2018 - Aug 2018Los Alamos, New MexicoResearch to study the effects of several test strategies on the lifetime estimations of single-axis vibration testing. Project involved creating new test strategies, managing large amounts of data, signal processing, and several strategies for lifetime estimation, and comparing lifetime estimations of each test strategy to a lifetime experienced in a service environment. Successfully identified a test strategy to best replicate a vibrating service condition in a lab environment using single-axis vibration testing. Project presented at the International Modal Analysis Conference in Orlando in January of 2019 and published in the conference proceedings. -
Undergraduate ResearcherUniversity Of Utah College Of Engineering Aug 2017 - May 2018Greater Salt Lake City AreaDepartment of Mechanical Engineering Tribology and Precision LabProject to improve the longevity of prosthetic hip implants through microtexture on the Cobalt Chromium femoral head. Involves a hydrodynamic lubrication model to simulate the lubricant film thickness and friction coefficient between the sliding surfaces, and experimental measurement of the coefficient of friction between the microtexured CoCr head and the polyethylene acetabular component. Awarded funding from the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP). -
Undergraduate ResearcherUniversity Of Utah College Of Engineering Aug 2017 - May 2018Greater Salt Lake City AreaBionic Engineering Laboratory:Development of a fully actuated bionic knee exoskeleton to replicate biomechanically accurate knee dynamics during normal human gait. Involves biomechanics analysis, development of actuation system, motor controls, and ergonomics through the human-robot interface. Project showcased at the American Society for Engineering Education Conference June 2018. -
Quality Engineering InternBard Access Systems Jun 2016 - Aug 2017Salt Lake City, UtahSuccessfully created a new process of completing and tracking design reviews to improve efficiency and maintain compliance throughout the whole company. Developed a training regimen to introduce employees to the new process and ensure accountability for each stake holder in the review. Developed process for determining mechanical forces experienced in strain reliefs of ultra sound probes. Wrote several test protocols for inspection, validation, and product testing of medical devices. -
Reliability InternRio Tinto May 2015 - Aug 2015Greater Salt Lake City AreaDeveloped a new system for inspection of storage and thickener tanks on site. Revamped the mechanical integrity program for the concentrator and created the means for the program to be replicated at other sites. Took inventory of all tanks on site, identified at risk locations in tank for failure, determined best method for mitigating those failures, and wrote inspection protocols to carry out future inspections in order to extend lifetime of the tanks. Also involved creating systematic inspection design documents, work instructions, risk assessments, and management of change documents. -
