Serving as a volunteer engineer to conduct research for clean energy production at a vocational technical and training school in the village of Sikaabe in Guatemala. Spent the month of October, 2018 on site at the school to research feasibility of hydropower and solar power energy production. Project includes determining power generation capability, performing a load analysis of the school campus, communicating with local power companies and suppliers, and working side by side with local students to come up with a solution. Currently working on a design combining hydro and solar power to meet the needs of the campus. Goal for installation on site is December 2020.

Worked on various process engineering projects to document and optimize engine rebuild processes in the Component Rebuild Center, primarily the Caterpillar G3500 and G3600 Engine Series. Worked with the engine technicians to develop an organization system and put together an Engine Rebuild SOP to act as a template for additional rebuild processes in the shop. Worked as a process consultant for the company-wide Throughput Improvement project, which involved interviewing key parties involved in opening and closing work orders to determine the current state of the process, identifying inefficiencies, and developing a new streamlined system for processing work orders and completing jobs quicker.

Research to study the effects of several test strategies on the lifetime estimations of single-axis vibration testing. Project involved creating new test strategies, managing large amounts of data, signal processing, and several strategies for lifetime estimation, and comparing lifetime estimations of each test strategy to a lifetime experienced in a service environment. Successfully identified a test strategy to best replicate a vibrating service condition in a lab environment using single-axis vibration testing. Project presented at the International Modal Analysis Conference in Orlando in January of 2019 and published in the conference proceedings.

Department of Mechanical Engineering Tribology and Precision LabProject to improve the longevity of prosthetic hip implants through microtexture on the Cobalt Chromium femoral head. Involves a hydrodynamic lubrication model to simulate the lubricant film thickness and friction coefficient between the sliding surfaces, and experimental measurement of the coefficient of friction between the microtexured CoCr head and the polyethylene acetabular component. Awarded funding from the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP).

Bionic Engineering Laboratory:Development of a fully actuated bionic knee exoskeleton to replicate biomechanically accurate knee dynamics during normal human gait. Involves biomechanics analysis, development of actuation system, motor controls, and ergonomics through the human-robot interface. Project showcased at the American Society for Engineering Education Conference June 2018.

Successfully created a new process of completing and tracking design reviews to improve efficiency and maintain compliance throughout the whole company. Developed a training regimen to introduce employees to the new process and ensure accountability for each stake holder in the review. Developed process for determining mechanical forces experienced in strain reliefs of ultra sound probes. Wrote several test protocols for inspection, validation, and product testing of medical devices.

Developed a new system for inspection of storage and thickener tanks on site. Revamped the mechanical integrity program for the concentrator and created the means for the program to be replicated at other sites. Took inventory of all tanks on site, identified at risk locations in tank for failure, determined best method for mitigating those failures, and wrote inspection protocols to carry out future inspections in order to extend lifetime of the tanks. Also involved creating systematic inspection design documents, work instructions, risk assessments, and management of change documents.
