CEO and Co-founder of Love Welcomes. Launched in 2017 under Thistle Farms, Love Welcomes was created in response to the refugee crisis witnessed first-hand in refugee camps in Greece. The idea was to weave welcome mats from life vests, worn on the journey to Greece and unusable blankets, as a way for women in the refugee camps to generate income for themselves and to use materials that would otherwise go to landfill. Now Love Welcomes has a team of artisans from a refugee background working and learning creative skills in London. Purchasing items is a way for the UK, European and American audience to show tangible support for people rebuilding their lives.The women are continually expanding their skills to add new products and the proceeds from the sales pay the women a salary and pay for language lessons, computer skills and financial literacy lessons.

In 2014 Abi and a small team created Thistle Farms Global, a new division that partnered with 30 female-led social enterprises, focusing on job creation for survivors of human and sex trafficking and extreme poverty. TFG introduced the partners to an American market of consumers and has grown sales by 30% every year. Due to a small team and limited overheads, TFG is able to give more money to each partner than a standard wholesale model, enabling sustained community change, employment of more women and access to more opportunities.
