I lead a team of software and broadcast engineers who develop multiple audience facing set top box and TV applications and internal editorial tools which make up the BBC's Red Button Interactive Services on Sky, Freesat, Virgin Cable and Freeview. The applications we develop and support are used and loved by around 14 million UK households per week.In March 2017 we completed an extensive 3 year programme of work to in-source the service from our technology partner, taking the opportunity to re-build and re-platform the service on AWS.

I manage the development and delivery of multiple BBC products for Broadcast and IP Connected devices on Sky, Freesat, Virgin Cable and Freeview.I recently managed the successful delivery of the MHEG iPlayer project on Freesat and I'm currently in the process of delivering a programme of projects for the BBC's Interactive Services on the Red Button for Sky, Freesat, Virgin Cable and Freeview. So far this programme has included the delivery of three bespoke Red Button Olympics applications (24 video streams) and delivery of Red Button Interactive Service configuration changes for Digital Satellite Transponders (DSat) and Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) platforms during the final stages of Digital Switch Over (DSO). My other responsibilities include the management of internal projects concerned with the delivery of the department's RF (Radio Frequency - Broadcast) and IP Test Networks and Infrastructure.

I manage the development of set top box applications for IP Connected Devices. I also manage the specification and delivery of Broadcast and IP Infrastructure for the division of Future Media & Technology at MediaCityUK.

During the sandwich year of my degree, I spent 6 months in BBC Research and Development working on HD Video Compression, followed by 6 months acting as an Acoustic Consultant supervising the construction and calibration of Prototype Radio Studios as part of the W1 Project, followed by 2 months acting as Technical Consultant for FM&T on the MediaCityUK Project.

Pair Trawling - Crew - Eyemouth, Scotland- Responsible for the safety of the boat and crew when on watch, day and night- Ensured safety and fuel checks were carried out every day and night- Worked as part of a team, twenty four hours a day, for four days out of every week- Safely operated the boat’s equipment, such as Radar, Chart Plotter, Eco Sounder, VHF, Auto Pilot, Hydraulic Net Drum and Trawl Winches.
