About Aisalkyn Botoeva

I apply my sociological expertise and passion for participatory methods to co-create and implement innovative mixed-method research approaches that foster an improved understanding of change. In my current role, I have been leading and managing the Grounded Accountability Model (GAM), a methodology that engages community members to co-develop localized indicators of key concepts, such as peace, empowerment, and justice. I also enjoy facilitating professional communities, as evidenced by my role in launching and maintaining the GAM Community of Practice, which has over 300 members from 62 countries and 123 organizations. Additionally, I have a strong background in international development and gender-based inequality, having conducted qualitative and mixed-method evaluations of projects that focused on refugees, children with special needs, smallholder farmers, women, and other vulnerable groups. I have developed curricula and taught corses in Research Methods, Globalization and Economic Sociology, and worked with several cohorts of Central Asia Program fellows at the George Washington University. In my spare time, I lead my own podcast in Kyrgyz and Russian to amplify voices of Central Asian actors as they make sense of the region (https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/sanaalash).

Listed skills include Project Coordination, Qualitative Research, Analytical Skills, Research Design, and 35 others.
