I am currently a Police Sergeant and help supervise our agencies Youth Services Unit (SRO). We are responsible for over 30 schools in our city and have 13 school resource officers. I was previously a Patrol Sergeant assigned to a patrol shift. I am also the current team leader for our Crisis Negotiation Team, and have been a negotiator since 2015.Prior to being promoted, I was the training coordinator and background investigator for the Thornton Police Department. I was assigned to assist with the hiring and selection process of new candidates as well as ensuring monthly in-service training is completed to POST standards. I have been a field training officer since 2003 and was an International Police Advisor for 19 months in Iraq. I have also been an assistant law enforcement academy instructor in which I created and evaluated training programs. Pertinent experience and skills include: *Communication Skills. I have strong communication skills that I have developed as a corrections officer in 199 and a police officer since 2000. I am aware of my audience and know how to present myself in a clear and concise manner.*Adaptability. I am able to adapt to any environment that I am placed in and can function with bare minimum necessities. *Decision making. I am comfortable making decisions in difficult environments with tact and sound judgment.*Relevant computer skills (Microsoft office, word, excel, access, and power point). *Experience.
