My main function is that of the lead of our annual HEDIS process. I also help to handle inquiries about why members are part of certain HEDIS measures, along with any other questions various clients and healthcare facilities have about HEDIS data or measures. My job requires I be self-motivated, organized, have excellent people skills, knowledgeable about data and healthcare, have no oversight, interact with and have calls with clients, understand when it is necessary to ask for assistance, call out unreasonable deadlines or requests, escalate appropriate situations/questions to management, and explain technical data/reporting to non-technical audiences and executive management.I work in multiple databases, including Sybase (Facets) and Oracle. I create reports from scratch using TOAD to write SQL code, Crystal Reports to setup and create the report, which are then placed out onto SAP Business Objects. I handle internal recurring reporting as well as state mandated reporting with strict deadlines. I frequently spend time optimizing existing internal business processes in terms of automation, simplicity, and speed. I have also spent time aiding internal data and reporting migrations, due to internal upgrades and changes in databases and processes. The adhoc reporting requests required me to analyze the client's question or concern so that I can first build out what the appropriate deliverable back to them should look like and what question (or potential questions) the deliverable should answer. I pulled data for the deliverables writing and running Oracle (SQL) scripts, then took that raw output and put it together in Excel in such a way as to tell a story about the data via tables, graphs, and concise blurbs of analysis. While most of the deliverables I produced dealt with current and past metrics on any aspect of the UPMC SNP and Medicare health plans, I was also asked to produce deliverables that predicted future trends.
