I've been working with VoIP since the mid-2000's when I successfully reverse-engineered my MagicJack exposing the device SIP credentials used to access their proxy. I used these credentials with asterisk to learn how this early device worked and was able to place phone calls. Prior to this experiment on a MagicJack device, in the early 2000's I owned and operated a handful of payphones that were remotely managed with analog modems. Once payphones were becoming obsolete I partnered with a reseller of Nextel and got my first taste of 1G data and created apps that ran on Nextel phones for doing fleet management and asset tracking. I have a long-standing experience and a high-level understanding of telephony both analog and digital.
