Gigmit is an online booking platform allowing venues/promoters/festivals to advertise their spare slots and artists who match the event’s criteria to apply to them. The platform currently has over 50,000 artists and 5,000 promoters signed up. As Head of the UK sector my responsibilities were:⬩ The POC for the UK clientele (artists & bookers), handling any problems and queries they would have regarding the product. ⬩ Researching and contacting potential venues to get them to join and use our service. Venues I worked closely with included Liverpool's The Cavern Club, Leicester's The Shed and London's Nambucca.⬩ Contacting and meeting with potential partners who would want to invest in the UK market and the platform.⬩ Scouting emerging UK acts to work closely with and then managing those top UK acts who join our roster. Some of the acts I scouted and worked with included: Sun Arcana; The Cheap Thrills; EYRE LLEW; Kalandra; Brooders; Princess Slayer; Cabezudos; Sol Flare; Cal Ruddy and Mutant Vinyl⬩ Organising and booking gigs with venues I worked closely with, including curating the line-ups.⬩ Promoting all UK gigs with the venues I worked closely with. This included creating the poster for the event, promoting it on all relevant social media channels, contacting local blogs and newspaper sites to see if they would feature / advertise the event and monitoring the bands involvement; ensuring they too are regularly posting about the gig leading up to the date.⬩ Liaising with the UK Festivals that partnered with us including troubleshooting any problems before and during the event. Some of the festivals we worked with included Liverpool's Sound City; Sheffield's Tramlines & Outlines and Brighton's Great Escape.⬩ Performing extra tasks such as appearing in gigmit adverts/tutorials, speaking at universities/conventions and helping host Meetups/workshops with members the platform.
