I was exposed to this reality in 2011, when I was invited by a business owner making more than a million dollars in revenue with no systems to run daily operations. He was facing thefts in cash and inventory discrepancies, no clear tracking of receivables, just to list those. The quest was around assisting him with an Excel spreadsheet for verification. I went beyond and set up a simple ERP for him immediately. This helped find out much more than what he thought he knew about what was happening in his business. In a shock of what was unveiling to him , he shared the struggles of his peers living in stress and worries. The frustrations in his eyes was the one of million business owners to date in Africa.The experience opened my eyes to the big needs for customized software and ICT solutions to bring peace of mind to local business owners' frustrations. The marketplace mindset coupled with imported Software not adapted to their realities made the adoption to ICT challenging.Being able to look through the eyes of business owners struggles in managing their operations allows me to concile business development and coding their specific needs and desires.
