The Cosmogenic Nuclide Prep Lab uses multiple facilities in the Department of Geosciences to prepare Earth materials for geochronological studies involving cosmogenic nuclides. Research projects involving the lab are in the areas of glacial geology, paleoclimate, surface processes, and paleoseismology.I was responsible for chemistry laboratory processes that ultimately led to the calculation of cosmogenic surface exposure ages of glacial moraines and other glacial features using Beryllium 10. The ages were used to reconstruct mountain glacial history and paleoclimate estimates of precipitation and temperature in the central Rocky Mountains using glacier mass balance numerical modeling.
