I worked as an academic student support specialist during the school day, providing academic interventions for students in Chinese-Bilingual classes who are English Learners (ELL) or underperforming in order to make significant gains in reading, writing and math. I worked with a variety of students across several different grade levels, from first to fifth grade. During the after school portion of the day, I was the lead facilitator in a classroom of 25 students during homework portion of the afterschool program. I also planned and taught an hour-long activity for twenty students, involving students in elementary-age outdoor and indoor engineering and science experiments.

I developed and taught virtual lessons for interactive and culturally relevant STEM-related projects for 7th and 9th grade students in order to prepare for new math and science curriculum for the upcoming school year over a five-week long summer program. I also collaborated with other teachers and assistants to engage students in virtual settings through organized community discussions and activities, with a particular emphasis on current events, mental wellness, and social justice. I also served as a mentor to an assistant teacher, guiding them through the process of lesson planning as well as debriefing and discussing student interaction and engagement within our class sections.

I assisted in teaching curriculum geared toward enhancing mathematical and analytical skills for middle school students in under-served SF communities (emphasis on critical thinking and problem solving). In 2017, I received the Aim High College Intern Award.Additionally, I organized summer enrichment activities, fieldtrips, and workshops for the students in the program. Working with other teachers and volunteers with the program, we developed and planned out logistics, then provided fun activities with our students.

I was part of a core group of UCLA and USC students that planned the annual Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Student Leadership Summit, which took place at the end of January 2020. During the planning process, I strategized with the other members of the committee to develop a sponsorship plan, coordinated event logistics and schedules, and managed event publicity through social media and emails. I designed the website for the event, including conference schedules and presenter profiles. During the event, I assisted with hosting conference social events, presentations, and event banquet.
