I'm currently working with a healthcare client on a Next.js and Redux application to facilitate direct communication between doctors and technology experts using a custom UI and integration with custom and third-party APIs.

As Senior Frontend Engineer, I was given the official responsibilities of the roles I had already lived in at WWT as a capable developer, subject matter expert, effective communicator, mentor, and advocate within both the organization at large and the project teams I was embedded on.As technical lead for teams on large, multi-million dollar contracts, I helped support both technical and non-technical staff in the day-to-day routine and requirements of successful delivery. In addition to working my own daily Kanban tickets, I'd pair with other developers to troubleshoot, conduct code reviews, create test plans with QA, assist the product owner in requirements gathering and feature planning, create API contracts and docs with backend developers, and deliver presentations and demos to executive stakeholders.

As a Frontend Engineer at WWT, I worked with cross-discipline software teams to launch web-based applications using Angular, Vue, or React and was the embedded expert on HTML, CSS, and web standards including WCAG and general UX best practices. Daily responsibilities included assisting in maintaining an Agile Kanban board, working closely with an embedded UI designer to turn Sketch or Figma mocks into useable HTML and CSS, pairing with backend and full stack engineers to implement the UI and establish contracts with APIs, useability testing with QA, weekly in-person or video demos to executive stakeholders, and estimating future work.

At Mostly Serious my engineering skills continued to grow into developing much larger sites with farther reaches, including a regional hospital network, using more modern technologies like React and AWS infrastructure. While the technical and client interaction experience I gained was quite significant, this is where I began to learn to the invaluable skills associated with working as part of a team and claiming responsibility for a whole project's success or pivot. I also hired, lead, and mentored new junior developers who are now successful senior and lead engineers in other roles.

I accepted a full time position with my primary freelance partner and we continued to deliver successful marketing and sales websites for our clients. Most sites were PHP-backed content management systems with custom SASS and JavaScript user-facing UIs in addition to Shopify, Django/Python, and Magento e-commerce platforms.

As a new freelance developer, I worked closely with designers at small and large agencies to build websites and apps for their clients. My responsibilities were full stack and full service. I did everything from slicing up a Photoshop PSD to developing the UI with HTML, CSS/Sass, and JavaScript, customizing the backend CMS using PHP or Python, setting up and deploying to hosted services, long term maintenance, and training the client's staff in how to operate their new property.
