As a Committee Member of the Silicon Valley/Monterey Bay Council, I collaborate with fellow committee members to ensure that our scouts have the necessary funding for their operations. This involves direct engagement with the Council to raise funds for the Friends of Scouting Program and manage other scout fundraising initiatives. I am responsible for the architecture, training, deployment and evangelizing of Intelligent Collaboration tools globally. My primary focus is in the migration of Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Avaya, ShoreTel and other PBX systems to Skype for Business. This process included technical architecture, PSTN services, conferencing interoperability with existing Tandberg systems, Service desk readiness to end user adoption, training, and endpoint standardization. With the help of our site coordinators for all 60 sites globally we classify each conference room and worker persona to identify end user equipment. I am also responsible for adoption of new Microsoft technologies within the company, for example, Teams. Working with business partners I develop use cases on how technology can help increase their productivity and communications globally.• Deployment and support of Polycom Real Presence for Video Conferencing Interop including Skype for Business and Tandberg Systems. As the UC Architect I am responsible for the overall Architecture, Deployment and Management of Microsoft Services. This included Active Directory, Exchange, Lync, and Certificate Services. Along with Windows services I share responsibilities for virtualization, server deployment and storage architecture and management. I work directly with business owners to implement the services that they require to be efficient. I lead the systems team in day to day operations and career development. I worked directly with them to ensure that they not only to support the technology but to understand it and develop further on a career track. I do not undertake a task alone, I use the team; I find out who has the most interest and potential and expose them to as much as they can manage.* Upgraded from ocs/Lync 2010 with just IM to a global Lync 2013 deployment with voice and conferencing and decommissioning of multiple PBX systems. * Active Directory upgrade 2003 to 2012* Exchange 2003 to 2010 and 2012* Multi-tier PKI solution using Thales HSM and Windows certificate services* HyperV deployment in remote offices for IT managed services and Lync. * VMWare management and storage design. * Backup server management.* Windows Remote Desktop services for external access* Active Directory deployment for single sign on for customer services holding over 20,000 accounts and approximately 8000 unique authentication request per day using Ping Federated

As manager of IT Operations I was responsible for Developing the IT charter, roadmap, and budget. The team consisted of Networking, Linux and Windows administrators that managed corporate IT and engineering labs. We were all hands on, from racking servers to desktop services. We deployed improved technologies to deploy systems, request services and improved collaboration technologies.

I was responsible at client sites for the architecture and deployment of a wide range of services including Active Directory, Exchange, VMWare, Storage, and Data Loss Prevention. A large majority of my work was evaluating, recommending and repairing infrastructures that were in a state of disarray.

Proof of Concepts* Worked with an independent auditor to test the performance of Brocade’s HBA. This test included detailed configuration from the server and applications to storage.* Worked with sales engineers on proof of concepts for migrations and upgrades. This included building detailed datacenter environments with services, storage and networking.* Developed early adoption plans for new products. This included storage encryption to packet traces on virtualization platforms.* Architected IP over Fibre Channel infrastructures, utilizing Oracle RAC with a TPC-C benchmark to simulate user load.White Papers* Scalability of SQL Server on VMware. Utilizing the standard TPC-C and TPC-H benchmarking, a virtual environment was built to consolidate physical hosts to virtual machines.* Scalability of Exchange 2007 on VMware. This detailed what architects could expect for the number of users to virtual machines to physical host ratios.* Deploying N_Port ID Virtualization (NPIV) with VMware ESX 3.5 and Hyper-V. As two separate documents I detailed end-to-end step-by step instructions on how to deploy and troubleshoot NPIV on both of platforms. It included considerations for choosing what kinds of disks to use on ESX or Hyper-V, how much storage is required, and the pros and cons of those choices.Lab Architecture* Consolidated several physical servers to two ESX virtualized platforms. Templates were built so engineers to deploy a guest as needed for small testing without requiring a physical server.* Maintained and designed networking in the lab. This included reducing the number of switches and routers required, and increased the ability to re-configure or expand the lab as needed.* Decreased the server build time by implementing a deployment infrastructure that would deploy a wide variety of operating systems (Windows 2003, 2008, Linux, ESX) to a variety of server platforms (HP, IBM, and Dell).

I was responsible for overseeing the students in three productions per school year. This included teaching 14 year old kids everything from designing and painting scenery to how to use a pneumatic nail gun; Understanding different kinds of lighting equipment to designing a lite plot, to hanging, to programming ques. It involved teaching sound design, costumes, makeup, props, and special effects. Since students were also the stage managers, they had to learn how to become an effective leader with their peers, not an easy task for high school students. It was my job to prep students for this; from auditions, to rehearsals, to tech week, though opening and closing, up until strike night. I had to teach the students respect for the theater, the art of performance, and respect for themselves and other students. There is nothing more fun than watching a student go to their parents and pointing and saying "I did that". There is not too many things a high school kid can do and be able to show it off like that. I was also responsible for creating tests, quarterly grades, student/teacher nights, and included myself being reviewed by other faculty.

* Migration from Exchange 2000 to 2003: Reduced the number of global servers to a small set of key located servers. Reviewed the existing infrastructure and data I/O and worked with the storage team built a better performing architecture utilizing less physical disk space, and increased user availability and performance. * As team lead, I was responsible for day to day operations and guidance as well as projects to improve windows infrastructure. This included mentorship to individual contributors and on-call rotation. * Worked directly on three acquisitions from small to enterprise. Automated the process of checking for duplicate accounts and importing of the data into Active Directory. Simulated day zero connectivity testing including domain authentication and e-mail traffic to ensure that the new employee’s first day would not cause any need for down time. * Combined two separate DNS services to a single enterprise grid based DNS system with zero down time. * Responsible for implementing and maintaining the application used for password management and auditing. * Worked with outside auditor to review all Windows password requirements, service packs, and access control lists for SOX compliance. I developed a script that took a manual process of several days to a few minutes of automation.
