Senior Project Officer - Real-Time Prescription Monitoring Taskforce
Victoria is presently experiencing serious and growing harm due to inadequate controls over the use of prescription medications. A real-time prescription monitoring system would assist in addressing this issue, as prescribers and pharmacists would have real-time access to a patient’s complete dispensing history of certain high risk medicines, at the time of a consultation. Prescribers would be able to make better-informed diagnostic and treatment decisions during a consultation and also be much better equipped to prevent prescription shopping activities. In my role, I support the planning, evaluation and implementation of the real-time prescription monitoring system and the supporting workforce planning and development initiatives.
