My role also entailed chairing all meetings of the Board, which consists of all elected Student Representatives and staff, ensuring meetings run efficiently and that every voice is heard in a high-pressure environment. From engaging with UWA Alumni to working with Guild Department Officers & the Venture student innovation centre to foster a community of innovation through events post COVID-19, a supportive community was established.I am proud of accomplishments the Executive achieved in 2021, with multiple lessons learned as the youngest student to preside as Chair of the Board on the Guild Executive, in 110 years of the Guild.
Chair Of Governance Committee
As Chair of Governance, I was responsible for drafting, editing and approving all policies and rules that are presented to Guild’s Board of Directors. I was also responsible for ensuring that the Guild’s rules met the needs of the Guild and are enforced. This includes (but is not limited to) Election Reform, Policy changes, Department Rule changes, and Governance recommendations.I successfully updated the Guild's Standing Orders, which guide how meetings of the Board are conducted, along with committee and department constitutions.
Chair Of Election Culture Committee
The Election Culture Committee works closely with the Western Australian Electoral Commission to identify shortcomings in our electoral processes and opportunities for improvement. During my term, I negotiated with the Returning Officer and different groups running for election. This was to ensure strict regulations were in place for campaigner conduct and flyer distribution rules were adhered to for certain areas of campus only, and well-being breaks were instated during election week.Key areas of focus for our Committee included voter experience, candidate wellbeing and upholding the values and expectations of the University and the Guild during the annual Guild elections. The Committee investigates and makes changes to our election processes to ensure the Guild elections can be a positive experience for voters and candidates alike.

We also managed all outlets in the Refectory, our food court, and all food trucks on campus.

Uwa Night Markets Project Coordinator
This initiative catered to all students on campus by providing a range of food options & entertainment via night markets. This was conducted by collaborating with over 25 student-led Societies and local businesses. This project is a great addition to UWA's vibrant campus culture. My role entailed liaising with vendors, external organisations and the Guild Events team, plus organising and delivering the logistics of the project, working with Guild Volunteering to recruit volunteers and recognise volunteering hours, as well as coordinate the activities of project volunteers.
Strategic Resources Committee Member
In 2021, I contributed to developing and managing a provisional budget to be proposed to the first Board Budget meeting in December, and to undertake a mid-year review of the Guild budget in July. The Board controls and manages the buildings occupied or controlled by the Guild, while also controlling and managing the commercial operations including Guild Catering outlets and the Tavern. It also pursues strategies to reduce reliance on income received through the University and manages the safekeeping and collection procedures of the Guild Art Collection.

Our Committee met monthly to keep members from all corporate-related departments of the Guild updated, discuss new ideas and plan strategies for the Guild's corporate services including finance, IT, policies and procedures, and administration. My role was that of an advisor, where I updated the Committee on general IT and administration issues within the Guild Village vicinity, and where improvements should be made such as transitioning to electronic posters in the Guild Village and surrounding areas.
Environment Department Committee Member
The Environment Department within the Guild is geared towards developing a campus culture that values and applies sustainable practices. Management And Organisations (Mgmt1136) Class Representative
As the MGMT1136 Class Representative, I was in constant contact with the Unit Coordinator, giving constructive feedback regarding the delivery of the unit, especially in the transition from COVID-19. I created a large group-chat with everyone I could get in contact with who was doing the unit. I would gather feedback and relay it back to the Unit Coordinator. This resulted in the unit assessment components changing the following semester.
Societies Council Sub-Committee Member
The Societies Council (SOC) encompasses all Guild-affiliated student-run clubs and societies on campus. There are more than 160 SOC-affiliated clubs covering a huge range of interests, each as diverse as the next. SOC provides funding, administrative and leadership support to these groups, helping them run exciting events for students and develop treasury and leadership skills. SOC also hosts major events like Club Carnival, and manages club tenancies including rooms, lockers and mailboxes. During my term on SOC, I helped run O-Day activities and assisted in the organisation of the event, which mainly included liaising with external businesses. I also attended weekly meetings and remained in touch with student societies, to relay their feedback back to the Committee during our meetings.
Ethnocultural Department Committee Member
On the Ethnocultural Department, I ran several initiatives and engaged with several cultural Clubs to learn about their cultural backgrounds. I worked on the 'Ethnocultural Blogs Series' which highlighted different cultures and was posted regularly on FaceBook. I also organised and ran the Department's first ever quiz night which was a huge success, and assisted in the production of the ‘You Can’t Ask That’ video series, which allowed individuals of different cultures to address stereotypes about their background, a significant step towards more inclusivity and understanding of minorities on campus. Towards the end of my term, I debuted our inaugural cooking show, which was posted on FaceBook Live to kick off UWA Welfare Week. This was a highly entertaining role in my first year at UWA which allowed me to learn several organisational skills, and provided an opportunity to learn more about and to be proud of my identity.
Engineering Materials (Ensc1004) Class Representative
The ENSC1004 Class Representative role was the first leadership role I had taken on at UWA. It opened several doors to participate in other extra-curricular activities. This was after I had gained confidence by speaking to my peers, which helped me learn how to become a better listener, and by working with my Unit Coordinator who was always helpful and willing to give & listen to feedback.
Human Resources Director
At Enactus UWA, we aim to create social change through entrepreneurial projects which empower local and international communities and improve their quality of life. As HR Director, I focussed on empowering Enactus members to expand beyond their dedicated portfolio duties. This includes supporting individuals and teams whilst cultivating a collaborative and energetic culture within the Club. Recruitment was a major part of my role, where I was responsible for recruiting talent on a semesterly basis to join our Committee. This mainly entailed interviewing candidates and reviewing applications. I also worked with the Marketing Director to ensure opportunities to join the Committee are advertised sufficiently within the UWA community.
Executive Committee Member
Throughout the year, myself and the Executive committee met on a weekly basis to workshop start-up ideas relating to sustainability that we presented at the Enactus Nationals competition in 2022. Project Manager
Venture creates an environment where student innovation and enterprise is encouraged. It is a community which accelerates development and facilitates building valuable partnerships and sharing of collective wisdom. Venture supports student innovation through grants, idea development opportunities, access to industry experts, and to incubator facilities. As Project Manager, I ran an Entrepreneur Talk Series where we invited industry leaders to share experiences and inspire our students, with a particular theme around diversity. The aim of this initiative was to further engage the UWA community and provide an opportunity for students on campus to hear from those with similar experiences. The Talk Series addressed issues such as gender inequality, dealing with expectations & pressures at home growing up in an ethnic and/or immigrant household, and dealing with racism at different stages of one's life, among many more. We addressed these issues with an innovation perspective (e.g., how being a person of colour impacts one's career pathway/progression)

In addition to event execution, the Operations Division supports development of fundraising strategies to expand the donor base and enable club outcomes. As the Operations Officer, I worked alongside a supportive group of individuals to produce team objectives. I was responsible for keeping up to date with assigned tasks and actions within the division. My favourite part about this role was having the creative freedom to bring new ideas and initiatives to the team.
