After moving my family to NC I was offered a position with EIPD as a patrol officer. This terrific agency was very understanding when I decided to move into the private sector after only 6 months.

INVESTIGATOR – NEW YORK STATE POLICEAs a member of the New York State Police (NYSP) Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI), I operated from an office, drove an unmarked Division of State Police vehicle and wore conservative business attire, as opposed to a uniform. It was my responsibility to adopt cases and conduct investigations that were considered more serious or sensitive in nature. I have investigated just about every category of Criminal Penal Law crime and am able to carry and manage a heavy case load. Each case that I adopted brings with it the possibility of managing personnel, assigning proper resources and ensuring precise paperwork to provide the local District Attorney with tools for a successful prosecution and to secure the rights of every person involved in each case. An additional responsibility to investigating State Police held cases is regularly assisting with investigations conducted by local agencies that do not have the resources needed.I held BCI specialty certifications and/or am a member of; the Crisis(Hostage) Negotiations Team, The F.B.I.’s Joint Child Abduction Response Team, and Child Forensic Interviewing.TROOPER – NEW YORK STATE POLICEMy work as a uniformed New York State Trooper encompassed every aspect of law enforcement from traditional patrol duties in suburban and rural communities, interstate traffic and interdiction enforcement and, urban anti-crime details. I received numerous letters of recognition for performance and proficiency throughout my career as a uniformed trooper. I became a certified instructor in 2005 and have instructor certifications in; General Topics, Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and Defensive Tactics; which includes Monadnock baton and Taser Instructor certifications.I am also Police Mountain bicycle certified and Patrol rifle certified.

SERGEANT – UNITED STATES MARINE CORPSAugust 20, 1996 – August 19, 2000After scoring a 95 and a 100 on the ASVAB, I entered the Marine Corps as a E-1 Private and was promoted to E-5 Sergeant within my four year enlistment. I held the Military Occupational Specialty of 6531/Aviation Ordnance and the primary platform I worked on was the AV8B Harrier Jet, however the skill transferred to most Marine Aviation platforms. As an Ordnance Marine I held the “Quality Assurance Safety Observer” certification which meant I supervised the work of my Marines during munitions loading evolution's, inspected their final work product and signed off on that work prior to any mission sortie. As a Sergeant, in general, I was responsible for 20 junior Marines in my unit. This included their professional development as well as personal quality of life and mentoring. I left active duty at the end of my four-year enlistment with an Honorable Discharge.
