I currently work as a Commissioner for Buckinghamshire County Council within Children's Social Care and Learning. My role involves all aspects of commissioning and project management, from project initiation and procurement, through to project completion and evaluation. The majority of my commissioning work is within the primary, secondary and post-16 education sectors. I am the Council's strategic lead for post-16 education and a board member of Buckinghamshire Adult Learning. I'm lead for Alternative Education Provision and Apprenticeships and currently represent the Council on the Thames Valley Area Review of FE Colleges Steering Group.

I was responsible for delivering training on government funding to School Business Managers as well providing advice to colleges and training providers on post-16 learner support funding. I commissioned Key Stage 4 vocational learning and apprenticeships services to employers and learners.

The majority of my role was contract and project managing within the post-16 education and adult skills sectors. I managed local contracts in Coventry & Warwickshire and regional contracts across the West Midlands. Partnership working was essential to my role. Key partners included: Jobcentre Plus, Local Authorities, FE Colleges and private training providers. The majority of my projects and contracts were aimed at reducing local and regional unemployment, large scale redundancy support (MG Rover and Peugeot closures), adult skills development, sector specific skills (construction, motor vehicle, supporting teaching and learning in schools) and apprenticeship growth and development. I was also responsible for supporting the Executive Director with the setting up of the Coventry & Warwickshire employment and skills board.

My core role was project managing the National Construction Sector Skills Pilot for the West Midlands Region. This was successfully mainstreamed into the flagship Train to Gain Programme. This role involved working in partnership with CITB ConstructionSkills, construction major contractors (Carillion, Thomas Vale, BAM) and FE Colleges and Training Providers. As well as project managing this programme I worked on a number of other local projects to develop the skills of local employer’s workforce. This work also involved negotiating and managing contracts funded through the European Social Fund.

I was responsible for marketing apprenticeship programmes across Coventry and Warwickshire. This involved brokering apprenticeship vacancies by carrying out employer engagement activities, and promoting apprenticeships to young people and their parents / carers. I was also responsible for event management and website development.
