Temporary fellowship focused on supporting an active labor organizing campaign in northeast Alabama.

• Provide field staff representation for approximately 1,500 workers from Huntsville City Schools, Alabama A&M University and Drake State Technical College for an affiliate of the National Education Association. • Apply fluency in laws and policies while advocating for members in complex scenarios including navigating employee-employer relationships, grievance processing, representation in disciplinary meetings, and negotiations with superintendents, human resources directors and school board attorneys. • Utilize Alabama Registered Lobbyist status to influence political action while attending local school board and other agency meetings, developing and implementing issue-based action campaigns, and organizing roundtable discussions with assigned state legislators. • Serve on specialized project teams, including National Education Association’s Collective Bargaining and Member Advocacy training cadre, membership materials review and training module redesign. • Develop and present trainings, workshops, and conferences at the school, district, region, and state levels. • Assist in communication strategy development using earned media and digital marketing techniques. • Peer-elected to serve as national delegate and executive board member. • Selected as three-time Emerging Leaders trainer to collaborate with co-trainer to develop and implement the state-level, week-long leadership development program. • Reversed a near-decade long membership decline by creating and executing recruitment and retention strategies.• Secured over $250,000 for members in back-pay salary adjustments and various settlements. • Earned recognition for securing most print and television media appearances among over 35 directors.
