Planning & Technical Services Directorate

Manager of Structures Engineering BranchResponsible for the technical direction, management and administration of the Structures Engineering branch.- Formulating policy and standards in the areas of Bridge Design, Bridge Construction and Bridge Maintenance.- Approves design and specification and drawings for the construction and maintenance of bridges, MRWA policies and standards.- Manage detail Level 2 bridge inspections of WA state network.- Approve Heavy Loads network permits .- Engagement and management of consultants.

Structures Engineering Branch

Responsible for the development, maintain and review all standards and processes relating to bridge design, construction and maintenance.- Manage the investigation and concept design of new bridges to assist delivery directorates in packaging design works for tender and assessing submissions, including cost estimates for construction.- Manage a design review service of consultant submissions.

Infrastructures Delivery Directorate

• Develop Scope of Works and Technical Criteria contract documents.• Provide a specialist structural engineering design review service to Project Directors and Project Managers, and arrange specialist structural engineering advice.• Assess and advise on structural engineering design alternatives.

Planning, Technical And Environment Directorate

• Manages and provides technical advice to Urban Bridge Section.• Directs the investigation and design of bridges and other highway structures, including geotechnical and structure design.• Directs the preparation of design and construction programmes and cost estimates for use in overall management of projects.• Prepares design briefs and manages consultant’s commissions.• Supervises the preparation of contract documentation and assess tenders and recommends the award of Contracts.

Bridge Branch

Responsible for supervising design team to engage in the investigation and design of various highway bridge structures in both urban and rural area.

Northern Bypass Project

• Provides technical advice and arranges specialist review to ensure that the Project objectives are achieved and the design is in accordance with current Australian and world practice. • Reviews design at 15% and 85% completion and ensure compliance with Main Roads standards and practices and with the Scope of Works and Technical Criteria. • Liases directly with the Design Consultants and Reviews designs.

Major Project Section

Responsible to the Manager Major Projects as a Superintendent Representative / Site Engineer for construction of reinforced concrete Bridge over Beaufort River. The project also includes demolishing of existing timber bridge and construction of a detour road.
