I am an Environmental Diector with GAI and a wildlife biologist with a background in multiple animal taxa, having studied and performed numerous terrestrial and aquatic surveys for mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds, fish, and mussels. My educational background and experience focused primarily on reptile and amphibian conservation and taxonomy; however, my primary professional specialty is bats. I am SCUBA certified, and over the years I have conducted numerous riverine studies of mussels and fish. I am also interested in birding and have performed or participated in several surveys for listed songbirds or raptors.I am a federally-permitted and state-permitted bat biologist with over 20 years of bat consulting experience. I have personally handled and identified thousands of bats (including Indiana bats, gray bats, northern long-eared bats, and tricolored bats) and am proficient in bat field techniques such as habitat assessments, portal searches and assessments, harp trapping, mist netting, wing banding, radio-telemetry and tracking, roost emergence surveys, roost mitigation and monitoring, and acoustic sampling and analyses. When not performing field studies, I lead a group of consultants at GAI who perform environmental permitting and compliance, mainly for electrical power clients. I am a project and task manager and am responsible for coordinating logistics of multiple field survey teams, communicating with staff, subconsultants, colleagues, clients, and regulatory agencies, maintaining budgets and schedules, and submitting necessary reports and documents needed for compliance and permitting.
