Relay settings engineer responsible for relay settings of generation stations, transmission substations, distribution substations, & battery energy storage sites (BESS). Generation stations include fossil fuel stations as well as renewable sites. Developed settings and basis documents for line relays (step distance, differential, & communication assisted schemes), transformer differential relays (generator step up, autotransformer, & distribution), bus differential relays (high & low impedance), feeder relays, generator relays, meters, and BESS relays. Utilized Aspen Oneliner, PSSE CAPE, and ETAP to create short circuit models. Additionally served as a peer reviewer for other engineers’ work.Created settings files and points lists for remote terminal units (RTU) for generation, transmission, and distribution substations. Configured relays and meters to communicate with the RTU via SEL, DNP3.0, and Modbus protocols. Produced human machine interface (HMI) files using SEL Diagram Builder.Performed system studies using PSCAD. Studies include temporary overvoltage (TOV) and transient recovery voltage (TRV) studies for solar collector, transmission, and BESS stations.
