Responsible for the back-end technology and systems that serve Sony Pictures Television Networks worldwide digital portfolio and Free Ad-Supported Television (FAST) streaming services. Sony NMS is the division of Sony Electronics responsible for digital supply chain and direct to consumer/VOD services.Following a restructure at Sony Pictures we merged with Sony NMS and I continued to lead the now expanded, back-end engineering and QA team.

Relocated from London to Los Angeles to lead a team of 20+ back-end (.NET), QA (Python) and front-end (Angular) engineers. The team was responsible for building, testing and operating large scale VOD streaming services and internal CMS systems using Agile principles and best practices.These services were fully cloud-based, using technologies from Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure. Our technology design, implementation and operational excellence supported a 350% growth in monthly minutes streamed on our AVOD service. I developed a comprehensive QA strategy that integrated 3 disparate approaches into a single unified framework. Standardizing our approach allowed resources to efficiently work across multiple feature teams and delivered a 3x increase in relevant test coverage for our services.My responsibilities included the back-end engineering budget for in-house and offshore resources, software development, delivery and service uptime. I was Technical Architect for one of the first successful large scale cloud transformation projects within Sony Pictures and at the time, the wider broadcast industry.Responsible for the the design and implementation of a fully cloud based (AWS) content supply chain and asset management platform for Sony Pictures TV Networks. As one of the first major studios to build and deploy an end-to-end media processing pipeline in the public cloud (2013) I had the opportunity to address completely new challenges and worked closely with our technology partners to develop and implement new ways of working with large media assets in the cloud. Key technologies include AWS storage and compute services, Vidispine MAM, Aspera file transfer (on-prem and cloud), Tektronix QCloud, tools from Sony Media Cloud Services.Migrated 25 FCP7 suites to Adobe Premiere/CC, deployed new central SAN in 8 weeks from design to deployment. My work included the change management process and defining user training plans for new creative tools.Responsible for successful design and deployment of Aspera file transfer platform across 5 sites in EMEA.
