My work in Meta’s Content Policy team focuses on explaining our policies, operations, and the rationale for content decisions to the Oversight Board, an independent institution that I helped launch in 2020. Through this work I have developed expertise in the entire scope of the policies that apply to content on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. I assemble and present extensive briefings to the Board on Facebook’s content policies, operational practices, and the values that drive its content moderation decisions throughout the world. To do so, I work with an array of cross-functional teams to assess and explain Meta’s actions as they relate to principles of human rights, free expression, political participation, and the prevention of ethnic and political violence. I regularly brief senior company leadership on policy developments and decisions, including the President of Global Affairs. In the year before its launch, I helped design and create the Board’s structure, its decision-making processes, and the scope of its review.

My work at NPR included a broad array of projects to support company operations and initiatives, including drafting and negotiating a variety of agreements, counseling NPR and affiliated entities on corporate board matters, providing advice and advocacy in regulatory matters before the FCC, and reviewing internal policies and practices related to privacy and data security.

My work at DWT was focused on the policy, privacy, and other regulatory needs of telecommunications carriers, cable operators, and broadband Internet service providers, as well as representing media companies in First Amendment matters. I counseled clients on a wide array of practical and strategic questions surrounding privacy practices and other regulated activities in the delivery of technology-enabled services, including regulatory obligations under the FTC and FCC regimes, targeted advertising, data security programs, and employee policies. My litigation experience included defending media companies against defamation claims, pursuing lawsuits under the Freedom of Information Act, and representing media companies in commercial contract disputes.

I served as the drafter and project manager for a team that included the company’s CEO, COO, infrastructure designer, and an educational consultant. In this capacity I had primary responsibility for writing a multimillion-dollar grant application to create last-mile broadband Internet infrastructure in American Samoa.

Researched and drafted memoranda on media topics, including defamation, libel, and slander lawsuits, with particular focus on internet-based speech; significant work on pro bono project centered around the preservation of an historically significant African-American cemetery in Washington, D.C.

Researched and drafted memoranda on various topics, including for museum and auction house; reviewed and drafted agreements related to the launch of the local museum.

Researched and composed memoranda on employment, trademark, and First Amendment law; reviewed and drafted contracts for work, services, and business relationships. Assisted in compiling litigation documents.
