For the past year I have been doing experimental design and supporting research through both CAD and laboratory work on transparent ceramic materials. This included a variety of ceramic processing methods, such as isostatic hot pressing, sintering, and plasticizer development for alumina powders, as well as investigating the viability of industrial scale ceramic forging. Recent projects include:Development of alumina extrusion process using hot forging.Investigation of techniques for the production of transparent, multi-phase alumina/sapphire, including plasticized warm pressing and additive manufacturing.

For my senior design project at Purdue I worked for GE aviation, and in collaboration with AIM-MRO performed comparison testing on both traditionally manufactured and additively manufactured superalloys produced via binder jet printing. This included characterization techniques such as XRD, SEM, and optical microscopy, as well as less common techniques such as DSC and GDS.
