As an experienced organizer and director of public health projects and a variety of health promotion activities, I have performed as an effective teacher/trainer, manager, and project leader. Having taught both professionals and students, while working in community outreach, I have an understanding of various learning models and teaching constructs, that result in behavioral change. Working with individuals from varying walks of life to progress through a variety of phases in the behavioral change process has been a rewarding and meaningful experience. The opportunity to see the growth and development with my target groups, friends, and colleagues have proven to be most enjoyable. Working at the local level as well as nationally and internationally, my experience includes researching and analyzing HIV/AIDS statistics for grants, and for a variety of other applications. While traveling extensively through Eastern Europe during my time in the Peace Corps, I have thrived in situations where it was necessary for me to adapt to new norms and cultures. My career goal, as a passionate public health professional, is to bridge the gaps in health inequities that result from socio-economic factors, such as lack of education, income inequality, and prejudice. I wish to work with the leadership of an organization that seeks to address public health holistically. Working with such an organization to create policies, and procedures that address the connection between people and their environments. Specialties: public health, prevention, health promotion and education, peer education, behavioral change, health coaching, epidemiology, monitoring and evaluating projects, SPSS and SAS, advocacy, analytical skills, writing skills, needs assessment, surveys and questionnaires, data processing, and Non-for-profit,

Health EducatorUniversity Of Miami Jul 2013 - Jul 2017Coral Gables, FloridaAs the Health Educator at the University of Miami, I coordinated health education and outreach activities for a population of more than 15,000 students split between 3 campuses. Such events were accomplished through interdepartmental coordination, between Counseling Center (Mental Health), Wellness Center ( Rec Center), Dean of Students, and various other student organizations. Using sound scientific/ evidence based practices to ascertain the needs of the student population, through word of mouth interactions, focus groups, online questionnaires, and digitized surveys (e.g. survey monkey, and student voice) while accessing national statistics, journal studies, applicable collegiate publications (ACHA, BAACHUS, & NCHA) and national news (to keep a pulse on current events); I planned for actionable steps to educate and promote health on the various college campuses. Semester planning, with detailed action plans, due diligence and SWOT analysis, allowed for the creation and recreation of several positive and effective behavioral change interventions and communication campaigns.
