About Adam Whitlock
I am a Marine Corps Veteran and happy to use the skills learned their wherever I go. I have utilized Microsoft Office effectively with spreadsheets, document construction, PowerPoint creations for training, and using Outlook's multiple features for scheduling purposes. I have used Oracle Applications for inventory management and control of items when processed for maintenance, to include updating, buying parts, and communicating with the supply system to ensure items were fixed in a timely manner. On top of my normal occupational duties, I found myself in positions where I was to take care of and account for Marines that were under my charge. This includes utilizing them in special projects needing attention at a moments notice and making executive decisions on scheduling and rescheduling personnel. I was a working supervisor and made sure that whenever a task was assigned to my team that we attack it to our fullest ability to surpass expectations. After I separated from service I worked at Bridgestone Horsepower, utilizing skills above in a new way. This included teamwork, communication, and problem solving in a way different than the military that I adjusted to quickly. I also acquired new skills such as planning for shipments of material all across the US to include areas of Canada and Mexico as well. I assisted a small part in overseas logistics dealing with air/sea shipments and created an easy to use tracker for my team. Now, I am in a role using my experience as a troubleshooter and communications technician at KBR. Installing, upgrading, deinstalling, and testing communications equipment in support of the Marine Corps again and in a new way for me. I have had to learn new platforms and testing procedures that were unfamiliar to me at first but with technical manuals and support from my team I am comfortable with all the work offered here.
Listed skills include Microsoft Powerpoint, Oracle Database, Electrical Troubleshooting, Troubleshooting, and 15 others.

Platoon Sergeant/Security Supervisor
After returning from mandatory training as a Sergeant, I came back to my section with a better understanding of leadership qualities and traits to include communication skills, ethics, writing, and team building. My leadership decided that the role of Platoon Sergeant should fall unto me and I was now in charge of the well-being, training, and up-keep of records pertaining to the Marines below me, while being a voice to the leaders above me. With this role also came the responsibility of ensuring the warehouse I worked in was constantly secured during business hours and during emergency situations. This included scheduling fair security rotations, creation of standard operating procedures specific to the warehouse, and training Marines working on Security.
Assistant Maintenance Manager
I started work at my new command where I was one of the personnel that actually worked on the equipment that was housed at our location. I worked hand in hand with the civilian counterpart who was the Maintenance Manager. With the knowledge I had in that point in time, my leaders deemed me fit to be the Assistant Maintenance Manager to assist with things such as small repair on electronic equipment, scheduling calibrations for test equipment, and software upgrades on equipment to be sent out across all units in the Marine Corps.
First-Line Manager
After my time spent overseas on a rotation in Australia, I returned to my home unit as a Corporal and had my own section to run. I supervised and assisted the repairs of thousands of communication equipment such as radios and their ancillary equipment during this time period. I also recieved a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal due to the effort of my section. With my assistance and help from subordinates and peers we were able to reduce the maintenance cycle time of a certain asset from one hundred days to just one. I experienced night shifts, long hours, short fuse tasks, direct communication with superior personnel, and utilization of our shipping and ordering software. This time period also had me in a position to train individuals, up to 12 at a time rotating with other units every month, on a higher level of maintenance they were used too. Within that month, the Marines that my team and I had trained would be outperforming permanent personnel in the shop.
Ground Communications Technician
During this time I was promoted from Lance Corpoal (E3) and then to Corporal (E4). As a basically trained Communications Technician, I spent most of my time testing and repairing tactical radios utilized by the United States Marine Corps. Part of the job entailed the use of Oracle based supply software to accept equipment, detail work done on the equipment, order parts, and eventual shipment away from our facility. When I was promoted to Corporal, my role turned into more of a Working Supervisor, assisting Marines below me as well as peers to complete the work for the day. This included training, supervision, and communication to the section head for the Marines needs.
Basic Trained Marine/Student
I was in Basic Training for the United States Marine Corps from July 2012 to October 2012. From there I went to training detailing basic rifleman maneuvers and field operations from October to November 2012. These four months taught responsibility, discipline, importance of teamwork, and dedication to a common cause. From November 2012 to September 2013 I was a student learning how to properly troubleshoot communication equipment and learn basic composition of electronics. I learned how to utilize the equipment I would be trained to repair to ensure competency as a maintainer.
