Lead the strategy design and approach for UnitedHealth Group to deeply embed culture, Inclusion & Diversity, and social responsibility into core business processes and drivers

Overall business owner for the Polaris Portfolio – one of the largest transformation initiatives in the history of the company – designed to simplify and modernize our entire business environment. Accountable for securing stakeholder buy-in and support, partnering with IT to set the program’s strategic direction, keeping the program on-track with that strategic direction (the “5 Ons”), and working with cross-functional business leaders to optimize business processes.

* Championed and executed on a comprehensive evolution of the organization’s medical management model, demonstrating the ability to influence clinical, operational, IT, regulatory, sales, and other stakeholders. Over the course of a 2-year development cycle kept the program on-track, on-budget, and on-target for $200M+ NPV.* Co-developed a strategic plan to transform the culture across the entire enterprise, impacting the way we hire, develop, and reward talent. Nominated to be one of the first 16 leaders certified to facilitate this change through 3-day workshops with the top 3,000 managers in our company.* Coordinated a cross-functional and cross-segment response to Mental Health Parity regulations that positioned the changes as a growth opportunity rather than a compliance exercise, laying the foundation for engagement on Health Care Reform.

* Integrated the operational planning processes across a 30,000+ employee enterprise, sharpening the focus of teams across the organization – including Product Development, Health Services, and Operations – to aligned objectives driving growth. * Co-developed and executed a scalable strategy planning and execution process that clearly identified and measured accountabilities across 32 health plans and all national matrix partner organizations. * Delivered a budgeting process supported by field business plans, linked to matrix plans, and driven down to field-level goals – resulting in consistent, connected, and complete budgets earlier than ever before.

* Introduced cutting-edge learning tools and processes, including strategic sales methodologies and skills, which maximized individual and channel performance.* Constructed and deployed a competency-based model to improve the hiring, on-boarding, development, coaching, and recognition of top sales talent.

* Led Lean Six Sigma efforts across the 6,600-employee Specialized Care Services (SCS) segment. Developed and executed the strategy for methodology deployment and business integration. During my tenure as Senior Director, Specialized Care Services realized over $25M in run-rate benefits and completed over 100 projects.* Developed and managed the first Master Black Belt Team at SCS, responsible for business unit support in process improvement and process design, as well as for training over 90 Black Belts, 700 Green Belts, and 200 Executives.

* Full operating and P&L management responsibility for $4.5 million IT Training firm. Supervised and developed a staff of 7 managers to run the 50+ person business.* Reengineered core business processes in order to achieve long-term cost reduction and productivity increases, resulting in savings of over $300,000 annually.* Introduced and marketed a new series of technical training programs that redefined the field, leading to a 50% reduction of competitors over the course of two years.
