I began with SCG in 2000 as a student organizer living off the land on a $100 per week stipend, learning the basic elements of voter contact: identification, persuasion, and mobilization. I attended symposiums by progressive experts in field, GOTV, message, fundraising, and Voter Registration while working as a field organizer in a Chicago Democratic primary race for US Congress. This led to my initial and subsequent professional opportunities in politics, notably two high-level positions on US Congressional races, consultant and operative on numerous township and issue-based campaigns, and especially as Regional Director to create and manage a Voter Registration program for Florida Consumer Action Network Foundation which resulted in over 19,000 voter registrations in Jacksonville as part of a national progressive VR campaign in 2004. The bottom line results reflected the relentless work ethic which is the calling card of Chicago's School of Community Organizing.
