Since 1994 I've been analysing health, and specifically NHS data.Over that time I have developed a skill set around understanding, not only what the data means, and how to effectively interpret it, but also how to present it in a way that has meaning and relevance to clinicians and managers at every level. Lately I have been concentrating on Mental Health, Maternity, End of Life Care and Patient Safety. I have led a project on NHS Dementia information, which has helped influence the National Dementia Strategy, and have spoken on this at National Conferences. I have experience using all the centralised repositories of NHS information - HES, SUS, the central returns via UNIFY and Omnibus. Also I have supplemented with this with other data like ONS population data, labour force surveys, social care data, and mapping information.I have worked in the acute, public health research and strategic organisations - so I have a well-round view of how the NHS works and the nature of patient care in England. I have built user-friendly dashboards and tools to show, in a graphically style, trends in measures, and which bring together multiple pieces of information to show a bigger picture. I am committed to the goals and ideals of the NHS, and am keen that my work helps in influencing high quality patient care and better patient outcomes and experiences.
