Full-stack software engineer, creating solutions for the next generation of telecommunications.

I was a member of the R&D controls and networking department, I was developing an application alongside members of the advanced research group. The project was mostly independent, however I received recommendations and advice from higher level software engineers to build my knowledge and to improve the application.ETC hired me with the expectation that I would port a TCL application to a new application which would use C++ with a Qt/QML framework using JavaScript. TCL has one of the worst readabilities of any programming language because of the number of macros, so they suggested I rewrite the program from scratch. This involved designing a GUI, managing large amounts of data, and making decisions for data flow; while always taking my coworkers suggestions into consideration. I met one-on-one with the applications end-users to see what they required from the program, what changes they would like to see implemented, and then I adapted the program to best fit their needs. When it came to logic and computations embedded in the application, I met one-on-one with members of the ARG team to figure out how certain values were calculated. This involved preparing spreadsheets, data flow diagrams, and complex algorithm prototypes. Here is a list of some of the stand out features of the application:Designing the application has taught me more about programming than I thought possible in such a small period of time. The sheer amount of progress that I made is more than I expected, and more than some of my managers suspected.

Worked at Menards during my summer and winter vacations. Worked as a cashier and outside-yard team member. Assisted customers with locating supplies and loading them into their vehicles. I also earned my forklift operation license during my time at Menards.
