Starting out as a full-stack Magento developer, I quickly broadened my skillset by immersing myself in every area of the business. Eventually managing all IT aspects of two globally recognised brands, Stuck On You and Penny Scallan. Transitioning from a career predominately working with Adobe Flex and PHP, I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to join a young and aspiring team at Essentia Group in Richmond. As a consultant, I was offered an exciting opportunity to work with Veeple, an interactive video service allowing clients to track and analyse consumer playback and interaction. Hired initially on a contract basis to solve architectural problems in their SaaS project management system. My position soon transitioned into a permanent role where I lead the planning, development and design for a custom Gant Chart, similar to Microsoft Project.• Development of a custom application framework and modular component system.• Working with different RDBMS including MySQL, PostgreSQL and Oracle.• Database optimisation, data modelling and table design.• Implemented high performance network communication using AMF RPC.• Developing functional specifications for use by system developers.

Enso Studios, a creative communications agency in Brisbane, approached me after receiving recognition for an open source blogging application I developed using Flex, PHP and MySQL. Which at the time was the first of its kind and introduced many new design and application architectures.I feel very fortunate to have had a Senior Developer who was extremely intelligent and prepared to take me under his wing, educating me in many areas like; Linux, virtual private servers, security, caching, documentation, coding standards, design patterns and alternative PHP frameworks.
