Having contributed to the incubation period of SD-WAN development within the Cisco Family, my new challenge is to; recruit, nurture and enable a dedicated technical team of people within the Enterprise domain, to further the expansion journey. The EMEAR based team is responsible for digital transformation in regards to Intent Based Networking, specifically Cisco SD-WAN and also wider architectural comprehensions such as Multi-Domain architecture, Multi-Cloud connectivity and Secure Access Service Edge (SASE).

As the Cisco acquisition of the Viptela Organisation progressed; I was asked to engage in a multi-faceted roll to assist in the accelerated adoption of SD-WAN technologies, both internal and external to Cisco.A Particular focus was to facilitate the Global Service Providers (GSP) on their SD-WAN Journey, helping to evangelise the product at senior level and facilitate the technical, operational and logistical challenges. Work ensued with major providers including BT, Orange, Verizon and Vodafone, amongst others.In parallel, a huge uptake in SD-WAN service interest, aligned with a maturing market within the EMEAR region was underway; thus I was also asked to assist Channel Partners and End Customers as they also progressed their respective journeys. Work Streams were varied, including; Assisting with design and deployment of large scale & complex network environments, from PoC to implementation, in addition to training and generalised support.

A Silicon Valley Start-up and sector originator, Viptela employed myself to help grow their strategy within the EMEAR region.My distinct focus was to assist our enterprise customers in realising and harnessing the power of this invaluable, emergent technology, whilst also ensuring a fledgling partner eco-system could also provide the scale to facilitate the expected proliferation of demand.Work Varied from intense, deep-dive Training courses, to Customer Workshops as well as marketing expectations, such as speaking at events focused on the technology.

The Emerging Technology function, looks to provide strategic direction for B2B products and technologies, both within the local Region (UK) and also in an advisory capacity into the wider EMEA OpCo's, via parent company Liberty GlobalI undertake Proof of Concept (PoC) initiatives on behalf of Product teams, within customer Environments prior to product definition, working on divergent technologies, from Encryption solutions, through Voice and Virtualisation and Cloud concepts. The manifestation within the organization is realized through a solution architecture blueprint, which acts as the catalyst for accepted future strategies and the kernel for wider stakeholders.

As an experienced and trusted architect, I am responsible for end to end solutions across different verticals for both internal and external customers. I am able to conceive, define, articulate and present solutions to key business and technical stake holders. A trusted advisor to numerous organisations, with faceted engagement at all levels. My role is to comprehend strategic business and commercial needs, aligned to technical and security requirements, in order to develop bespoke solutions from a wide ranging product portfolio and presenting to CxO Level Investors. This requires Coordination of large, multi-disciplined teams including; engineering, service management, legal, strategic partners and 3rd party vendors. I often work with VMB's largest and most diverse Partners including PSN, HSCN , Policing Verticals and Enterprise customers, ensuring adherence to applicable standards, balanced with security and architectural viability in addition to governance requirements such as PSN CoCo, IG Toolkit, PSN-P Uplifts and Enhanced Regime. I work in an advisory capacity to a number of functions, including Liberty Global European Strategy Groups, the Pre-sales and Business Development community, as well as providing impetus and material to relevant marketing teams. The role requires coordination and discipline and leverages 15 years experience working within technical project teams , bid response teams (pre-sales) and Transition and Transformation (TT) teams (post-sales), to deliver designs and technical architectures; ensuring imperative outcomes and end deliverables are assured and operational.

Predominanly aligned to PSN opportunities and more specifically, positioned upon the largest Regional PSN opportunity in England; Yorkshire and Humber PSN (YHPSN) Experience covers: Stake holder engagement, and technical thought leadership. Strategic architecture, Roadmaps and customer alignment Enterprise, and public sector RFP/RFQ response Customer presentations, and technical engagement.

Employed as a dedicated network architect, responsible for a rapidly increasing network infrastructure and a team of 5 engineers. My remit includes Project Design, TDA responsibilities and 3rd level technical support for the whole WAN/LAN/DC solution (Routing/Switching/Wireless/VoIP), network security and network management functions. Large projects include the design and implementation of an overlay VRF Network, DMZ and PKI to support impending National confidential applications. Furthermore, a complete roll-out of a Siemens Openscape VoIP solution, including over 4000 end-points and 11 RG Gateways, managing contracts with large multi-national suppliers. I am also a Member of the PSN Technical Working Group for the Yorkshire and Humber PSN and represent the force, upon the PSN Board

Required to support multiple Cisco Platforms (Routers/L3 switches) RADIUS/RSA Servers and PIX/ASA firewall implementations and use multiple management suites to pro-actively and reactively improve network efficiency and health (tools include SNMPc, Observer Suite, EnVision, Solarwinds and Ethereal). In my time at SYP I have overseen, from design to implementation a large-scale WAN upgrade to the adoption of an Evolved Ethernet solution (80+ sites). At the core of the network, I have designed and implemented a large scale switch environment employing HSRP, Content Server switches and advanced DNS mechanisms, providing efficient load balancing functionality and true dual site redundancy (Disaster Recovery) to all critical business systems. Additionally I have assisted with the nationally implemented Automatic Number Plate Recognition system, giving infrastructure advice, assistance and implementation solutions, predominantly surrounding GPRS/3G/HSDPA and WLAN (Aironet) technologies. Other notable skills include my project manager/technical lead role for the successfully implemented Nortel Contivity and Cisco VPN SSL solutions for SYP, new technologies to the corporation. Furthermore I was also the lead role in a Quality of Service project, from policy creation to implementation, which forms an integral part of the completed VoIP project

Worked as part of a small team to support internal HP users throughout Britain on numerous sites. A diverse range of responsibilities included the provision of technical solutions for infrastructure, networking, voice, hardware and software when all other routes (helpdesk and first/second level support) had been exhausted and had failed to provide a viable solution or workaround. Support was given to numerous platforms including many windows variations (NT/2000//XP) and all work was completed with assiduous attention to Service Level Agreements as expected. In addition to this I was also part of a 3-man international team accountable for quality assurance for the whole of the EMEA IT support group, a role that developed into a management position at personnel, process and policy level
