Lead a team of program management and health technical advisors that provides ongoing technical support to the acquisition and implementation of health projects focused on TB, HIV, and Malaria.
Toronto, Canada Area
I work with a large portfolio of HIV, Malaria, and TB grants financed by The Global Fund and the Stop TB Partnership and supervise a small team of program managers that are responsible for headquarters support to Plan International project sites in West Africa, East and Southern Africa as well as Central America. Most recently, I led a successful business development exercise at Plan International Canada that supported all involvement, partnership, and operations to support the latest grant application process in alignment and coordination with Plan’s country sites and national coordinating mechanisms based in-country. Through this work, my team and I worked in partnership with our counterparts in country sites to successfully negotiate the inclusion of new, transformative approaches to gender equality, inclusion, and human rights as part of each grant negotiation exercise. I work closely with other NGOs, INGOs, Ministries of Health, and other stakeholders at all stages in the grant cycle and have also worked with allied donors including Expertise France, UNITAID, and organizations supported by US Government funds. My role is cross cutting and delves into overall project performance, financial expenditure, administrative compliance aspects, reporting processes, contracting, and technical support. Prior to Covid-related travel restrictions my role involved extensive travel to projects sites, primarily short term but I have also worked in longer term surge support capacities, for example, during the 2014-2015 Ebola outbreak in West Africa.

I supported, collaborated, and work on the acquisition and implementation of grants for health projects in Haiti, Liberia, Malawi, Mexico, Rwanda, and Sierra Leone and developed two large bilateral proposals that were submitted to and approved by Global Affairs Canada. During this time, I worked most closely with Canada-based foundation donors from a reporting and compliance perspective and also with Boston- based counterparts on overall ongoing program quality. I worked very closely with colleagues based in Haiti, specifically on a complex project that addressed community nutrition and gender-based violence in the Central Plateau and Artibonite regions.

Coordinator in the administration of continuing education programs for lawyers and advocates.
I was part of a sub-team responsible for strategizing around Board-level policy decisions to be integrated into the Round 10 Access to Funding processes. We collaborated and advised on a preliminary model of an online IT application system for the eventually-canceled R11 and facilitated a collaborative process with diverse stakeholders (e.g. technical partners, Global Fund board sub-committees, civil society organizations). I also conducted a research analysis on funding proposals related to HIV grants and the Global Fund’s Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Strategy and reviewed large-scale funding proposals for HIV, Tuberculosis and Malaria from the Middle East and North Africa region in preparation for the Technical Review Panel.
