Since 2016, A.J. resides in South Florida. In 2023, A.J. launched SixPoint Capital, the worlds first dedicated hybrid capital investor to fintech lenders and embedded finance platforms in emerging markets globally. SixPoint strives to provide non-dilutive growth capital to support the growth of a fintech securitization ecosystem. He also provides senior advisory services thru his advisory business, Akses Advisors, to a number of FinTech start-ups, primarily in emerging markets private credit, but also in developed markets, where he is able to use his expertise in corporate finance, structured credit, fund formation, underwriting, capital markets structuring and syndication, legal & operations, and management. A.J. provides restructuring advice (liabilities and corporate) to distressed private companies. A.J. also advises family offices and private credit funds on investments into FinTech direct loan origination and embedded finance platforms in emerging markets. From 1998 - 2016, A.J. was based in Europe and focused primarily on capital market and corporate finance transactions for large industrial corporations and financial institutions (insurance as well as banks). His first 8 years was spent in private practice as a corporate finance and capital markets lawyer (dual-qualified US/UK). Thereafter, he worked within investment banking as a capital markets structuring, advisory, origination and execution banker. During his banking career, A.J. focused on balance sheet client advisory with technical expertise balance sheet restructuring as well as liability and capital management, rating agency criteria (both corporates and FI issuers), accounting and tax treatment of capital, Basel capital guidelines for banks (including relevant local implementation, capital planning and RWA approaches), Solvency II capital rules for insurance companies, and market execution of proposed capital product transactions. He also advised and executed various funding / credit transactions (structured credit, ABS / ABL, equity derivative, covered bonds, high yield bonds, and medium and long term senior unsecured funding) for clients. Overall, A.J. has been involved in more than 100 transactions, helping clients to raise more than US$150 billion from investors worldwide in many different asset classes and in many different currencies. Throughout his career, he has developed strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as managerial experience. He also has been able to cultivate and maintain strong client and professional relationships throughout the world.
